Thomas Bentzen Industrial Design is a Copenhagen-based design studio, founded in 2010. His work is characterized by simplicity, rationality and functionality. With simple and narrative designs, he creates meaningful products for everyday life. His passion is to design products that engage and create curiosity, that are functional and simple and meet the human need while in use. He persistently explores form and function and the potentials of the materials in his pursuit to design long-lasting and durable products.
On His Design Philosophy
“I like to create objects that are functional and simple, while satisfying a human need when in use and creating joy when idle. For me, durability means quality, form, and functionality and putting an immense amount of energy into making virtues out of necessities.”
On Scandinavian Design
“Scandinavian design has always been about honesty and functionality, comprised with poetry. I like it that way. I think Scandinavian designers have succeeded in bringing their heritage into a time where we no longer stand next to the cabinetmaker, but are challenged and thrilled by new materials and new ways to produce.”
